Tennis Teams Compete At Plainview

The Muleshoe High School tennis team competed in the District 2-2A Tennis Meet Thursday in Plainview.

The tennis district is compose of teams from Abernathy, Dimmitt, Friona, Littlefield, Olton, Tulia and Muleshoe.

The Boy’s Doubles team of Matthew Barron and Nacho Elizalde won the silver medal to qualify for the Region I Tennis Meet.

Barron and Elizalde defeated Olton 6-0, 6-0 and Tulia 6-4, 6-0. They lost to a second Tulia team 4-6.

Varsity Bobcats Fall To Mule Baseball

The Mule baseball team got back on the winning track Saturday by defeating the Dimmitt Bobcats 5-4.

The Mules improved to 2-3 in district and are still in the hunt for a playoff spot in the post season.

Nacho Elizalde got the nod to start the game on the mound and gave up four runs in the first inning after striking out the leadoff batter.

An error allowed the second batter to reach first and he walked the second batter.

Muleshoe Track Teams Competes At Brownfield

The Lady Mule, Mule and JV Mule track teams final tune-up meet was the Cub Relays in Brownfield Friday.

Several athletes were held out of the meet to allow some slight injuries to heal as well as some illness that had struck the teams.

The Lady Mules participated in no field events and only four running events.

Jackie Rayas placed fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13 minutes and 27.87 seconds.

Lady Mules Finish Strong

The Lady Mule track team had the Antelope Invitational Meet won before they even lined up for the final race of the day.

But the Lady Mules won the 4x400-meter relay to place the cherry on top Friday afternoon.

The Lady Mules topped the six-team meet with 162 points. New Deal, Tulia, Post, Abernathy and Floydada trailed the Lady Mules in that order.

Mule Relay Takes Gold

The Mule 4x400-meter relay team won the gold medal in the final race of the day in the Abernathy Antelope Relays Friday.

But the Mules still finished fourth in the six-team meet with 89 points.
New Deal, Abernathy and Post finished ahead of the Mules while Floydada and Tulia trailed the Mules.

JV Mules Track Captures Silver

The JV Mules won the team silver in the Antelope Relays in Abernathy Friday with a score of 154 points.

New Deal finished in front of the Mules while Abernathy, Post, Floydada, and Tulia trailed the Mules in the six-team meet.

Blayne Shipman and Javy Perez got the Mules started by winning the bronze medal and fourth place respectively in the high jump.

Muleshoe Tennis Teams Return With Gold Medals

The Muleshoe High School tennis team traveled to Sundown Monday for the Roughneck Invitational Tournament.

There were 25 teams that competed in the tournament.

One team gold medal and two individual gold medals made the trip back to Muleshoe.

Nacho Elizalde and Matt Barron won the Boys Doubles Varsity Division by defeating Farwell 8-0, Friona 8-5 , Brownfield 8-1 and Shallowater 8-3.

Lady Mules Defeat Abernathy, 8-3

It took the Lady Mules seven innings to defeat the Abernathy Lady Lopes 8-3 Tuesday afternoon.
It was the second time the Lady Mules had dropped the Lopes.

Diamond Lopez was two for three at the plate for the Lady Mules and Marissa Cortez kept the Lopes off the bases with 13 strikeouts.
