Muleshoe Country Club Ladies Association

The Muleshoe Country Club Ladies Association met on Wednesday, July 21, for their monthly luncheon.

Club president Anita Black expressed her appreciation to Jeanetta Precure for the meal. Jerie Flowers opened the meeting with a prayer of gratitude.

Deborah Noble called roll and read the minutes. There were 15 in attendance and one correction to the minutes.

The charge for the pool is $125 for two hours plus $50 for the lifeguard or $175 for three hours plus $50 for the lifeguard.

Our July birthdays were Pat Kirk and Marlene Martin.

Judy Wilbanks gave the treasurer’s report.

Under old business we reminisced about our Ruidoso trip and thanked Wilbanks for her hospitality.

Under new business Treena Matthews donated a scented golf candle to be placed in the ladies locker room. Anita Haley made a motion with a second from Kay Field that we have Albaga Gardea to clean our locker room on Tuesday mornings.

Marlene Martin will be in charge of the concession stand for the Muleskinner Tournament on July 31 and Aug. 1.

We will be serving hot dogs and all the trimmings. Contact Tammy Black for our pink skirt decorations.

Treena Matthews, High Plains Director reported that Precure, Kirk, and Hele Templeton partook in the Canyon High Plains Tournament, with Kirk winning low putts in second flight. The next High Plains Tournament will be at Dimmit on Wednesday, Aug. 11.

Anita Black, Muleshoe Country Club board member reported that the kitchen was inspected and had three violations, which have been corrected.

We have 115 members. A pump was replaced on the golf course by Irrigation Pumps and Power Inc.

Due to Playday chairman Kirk being in Alaska visiting her grandsons, Templeton took over her duties this month and awarded the following card and golf players’

June 23 — Golf, low score on holes 1,2, and 3 was Precure, Field, and Noble; cards, first pat hand was Anita Black.

June 30 — Golf, first on green on hole 1 was Noble and Templeton; cards, lowest score on second hand was Kirk and Templeton.

July 14 — Golf, most waterballs was Flowers, Tammy Black and Anita Black; Cards, highest score was Wilbanks.

The ladies were divided up in three teams of four with the winning scramble team being Matthews, Precure, Anita Black and LaVerne Winn.

The door prize was drawn by Yerby and won by Claudine Elliot.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, Aug. 18.

Muleshoe pitching results…

The World Championship Muleshoe Pitching Tournament was held on July 4, at the Jennyslipper Mule-Putt Golf Course, after being rained out on Saturday, July 3.

Each winner received a trophy with a “gold” figure pitching a muleshoe.

This year’s winners include:

Doubles — First place, Mike and Todd Nichols, a father and son team; second place ­­— Justin Helton and Joey Chancey Singles — First place; Joey Chancey, and second place — Corey Wallace.
