Larry Thornton, 60, of Plainview passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Kornerstone Chapel with David Roberts, Pastor of Cowboy United Church in Chandler, OK officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.

Larry was born on October 22, 1958 to Eugene and Anna Lee (Prather) Thornton in Arkansas City, KS. He left college to marry Loretta Dianne Moudy on May 8, 1986 in Tecumseh, OK. He is a retired law enforcement officer from Chandler Police Department. He is a former pastor of Richland Hill Baptist Church in Muleshoe, TX. He also worked at Shawnee Sun newspaper and owned and operated a newspaper with his wife. Larry was an editor at the Muleshoe Journal.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Thornton.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Thornton of Plainview; one son, Sean Thornton of Abernathy; one daughter, Jessica Thornton of Abernathy; two sisters, AngaLee Everett of Arkansas City, KS and Mary Ann Bourland and husband Jerry of Maud, OK; granddaughters, A’Leah and Aubree Williams of Clovis, NM; mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Sheila Moudy of Shawnee, OK; sister-in-law, Pam Henderson and husband Steve of Odessa; brother-in-law, Barney Moudy and wife Sherry of Techumseh, OK; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Hershel and Delores McMunn of Pink, OK.
