Zeta Rho and Xi Omicron Xi chapters of Beta Sigma Phi met Tuesday, April 11, at the Bailey County Electric meeting room for their annual tribute to the founder of the sorority, Walter W. Ross.

Pat Angeley welcomed members to the meeting, after which Linda Wood led members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag and the Texas flag. Opening ritual was then led by Vicki Black, and Cindy Barrett gave the blessing.

Members enjoyed a meal of beef and chicken taquito casserole, beans, chips, and salsa. Desert of vanilla Bundt cake was served and enjoyed as Sandi Chitwood shared the Founder’s Day Pledge. The Message from International written by Laura Ross Wingfield, President of the Executive Council of Beta Sigma Phi, was read by Alice Liles.

Chapter highlights and Perfect Attendance were given for Zeta Rho by Vicki Black; perfect attendance went to Alice Liles and Pat Young. Chapter highlights for Xi Omicron Xi were given by Brenna Burch.

Officers for both chapters remained the same for the coming year: for Zeta Rho, president is Lynne Box, vice president is Sheila Stevenson, secretary is Vicki Black, treasurer is Pat Young, and sorority city council members are Melba King and Cindy Barrett. Xi Omicron Xi officers are: president, Char Phillips; vice president, Linda Wood; secretary, Brenna Burch; treasurer, Judy Davenport, and city council members, Brenna Burch and Val McCamish.

Cindy Barrett announced that Zeta Rho named Shelia Stevenson their Member of the Year. Pat Young explained the Pennies from Heaven fund the sorority has established, and members gave their donations to the fund.

Linda Wood led the closing ritual and mizpah.

Former Woman of the Year Jim Ella Clemmons was the guest for the festivities and won one of the door prizes, a basket of spring flowers, and Shelia Stevenson also won a basket of flowers.

Both chapters will meet one more time this year and then break for the summer months.
