The Muleshoe Mules basketball team is off to a sour start in district play.

After a late start due to football playoffs, the Mules kicked off the basketball season on Nov. 30 with several tournaments throughout December ending the month with the Wildcat Tournament in Littlefield.

The team played Sudan on Dec. 29 and came up short 47-59.

High scorers for Muleshoe included Aaron Morales with 12 points, Nathan Martens with 11 points and Adam Alarcon with 9 points.

District play began last week. The Mules lost to Denver City then to Dimmitt. The team was set to face Brownfield on Tuesday and Littlefield on Friday.

As of Tuesday morning, the Mules had a record of 0-2 in district and were 3-9 overall.
