Repairs and changes to Muleshoe Area Medical Center have been a long time coming, but they are definitely in process now, according to MAMC Administrator Dennis Fleenor.

A hailstorm in May 2021 severely damaged the front of the building.

“Stucco is normally like concrete,” Fleenor said. “The damage where the hailstones hit that side of the building was horrendous. They basically had to redo the entire building to make it look right.”

Also noticeable has been the demolition of the old nursing home.

“It’s been 20 years since they built the new one,” Fleenor said. “Taking the old one down makes the area look so much better. It opens it out so much more.”

The ongoing projects have an anticipated end date of  Oct. 1.

“If it doesn’t rain between now and then,” Fleenor said.
