Sudan vs. Plains

Sudan earned their third win on the year in a high-scoring 47-42 victory over Plains last week. 

The passing attack for the Hornets was on point as senior quarterback Trent Wilson threw for 326 yards, five passing touchdowns and no interceptions on 12 completions. Senior Salvador Juarez led the receiving group with six catches for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Junior Jaibryn Ornleas also surpassed the century mark in the receiving attack, catching four passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. 

Sudan is on its open week this week. They will open district play the following week on the road against Hale Center. 

Hale Center vs. Floydada

Floydada cruised to a 46-18 victory over Hale Center last Friday. 

The Floydada offense had a big day overall with explosive plays at every turn. Five of the Whirlwinds’ seven touchdowns came on offensive plays of 25 or more yards. Quarterback Ty Henderson had himself another big game with three total touchdowns, two of which were passing touchdowns.

Floydada improves to 4-1 with the win while Hale Center drops to 1-4 on the year. Both the Whirlwinds and Owls will be on their open week this week and start up district play the following week. Floydada will be on the road to start district play against Sundown while Hale Center will host Sudan.

Lockney vs. West Texas

The Lockney Longhorns took down West Texas 36-21 last Friday. 

Longhorn running back Xavier Jimenez was a one-man wrecking crew in the contest, taking 33 carries for 245 yards and three rushing touchdowns. The junior running back has rushed for over 100 yards in four of Lockney’s five contests. 

Senior wideout Daniel Alvarado had a busy day as well, scoring an 84-yard rushing touchdown and a 26-yard receiving score in the win. 

The Longhorns move to 3-1 with the win. They will be in their open week this week and start up district play the next week. Lockney opens up district play at home as they host Crosbyton. 

Kress vs. Motley County

Kress dropped their third straight contest, falling to Motley County 60-25. Senior Cole Todd led the way in the rushing attack for the Roos with 53 yards. He also caught three passes for 18 yards, scored a kick return touchdown and threw a passing touchdown in the contest. 

Kress finishes their non-district schedule this week with a home matchup against Whiteface. Whiteface was ranked sixth in 1A division I last week.
