Muleshoe Art Association met Tuesday, February 6, at the Oneida Wagnon Senior Center. President Ann Johnson opened the meeting and asked secretary Alice Liles to call roll and read the minutes from the January meeting. Eight members were present. Misti Prater gave the treasurer’s report .

Old business included when to move the display screens now stored at the Heritage Center to another location and painting of the Uncle Sam statue also stored in the Heritage Center. The screens will be used in the spring art show in April, so members decided to move the screens to the new storage location after they are used in the show. The painting of Uncle Sam will be done when the weather warms up this spring.

New business centered on the Valentine bake sale fund-raiser to be held February 12 and 13 at the senior center. Members were asked to help with set-up and sales and to bring baked goods and other appropriate Valentine gift items to sell. Proceeds will support the senior center.

Other area art associations’ spring art show dates were discussed, and April 8-12 was selected for our art show. More information about the art show will be announced soon.

Member Misti Prather will be giving a program for the Plainview Art Association on Monday, March 4, and members plan to meet at the senior center parking lot at 4 p.m. car pool to Plainview, have supper  at the Cotton Patch, and then attend her presentation.

Members’ artwork to be displayed at the senior center and the public library was discussed and assigned. Terry Brewster’s work will be on display at the library and the senior center through February and Misti Prather will display at the library in March and April.

Misti gave members ideas on making their own designs using a technique called Zentangles. These designs can be used on cards and valentines and are fun to create as an artistic project.

Members then used those designs and other decorations to make valentines for residents at Park View Nursing Home on Valentine’s Day.

The meeting was adjourned and Sandra Chancey won the door prize brought by Ann Johnson. Refreshments were brought by Ann Johnson and enjoyed by all.

The next meeting will be March 5 at 2 p.m. at the senior center with Dyan Newton giving the program. Visitors are welcome to attend.
