A Thursday evening crash in Lubbock County killed one and injured two others.

A Chevrolet Equinox driven by 61-year-old Daimon Dale Knight of Lubbock was traveling south on North County Road 1700 when it crossed over the center stripe into the northbound lane and collided with a Honda driven by Kahlil Lamont De Vaughn, 21, of Littlefield, traveling north.

The passenger of the Honda, 21-year-old Tyler Obed Thompson of Littlefield, was transported to University Medical Center where he later died, according to a preliminary report from the Department of Public Safety.

Knight and De Vaughn were treated for minor injuries. According to the report, Knight was wearing a seatbelt while both individuals in the Honda were not.

The crash was reported at 7:53 p.m. Thursday at North County Road 1700 (Milwaukee Ave.) south of County Road 6300 (Kent Ave.).

The posted speed limit was 60 miles per hour and conditions were noted to be clear and dry.
